Please Keep Your Idea Secret! Part 2

You must be very wary of showing your invention to anyone, even your brother-in-law. Keep it secret for as long as you can, even after you file a patent application. It’s the most conservative way to go. Companies, large companies, don’t have to worry about that. They know that they can flood the market, and they can make it cheaper and faster than anyone else.

So they’re not worried about waiting for a patent to issue. They file applications, but they can move much more quickly. An individual or a small company can be run over by a big company. And especially if you have a simple invention, which is inexpensive to manufacture, they don’t care that your patent will issue two or three years down the road, they’ll sell a million of them before that happens.
